Camping
Tucked away in a secluded water meadow on the stunning Shermanbury Place estate, this is a spot where nature takes centre stage. With the River Adur gently trickling by and panoramic views of the rolling South Downs and the historic Chanctonbury Ring - an ancient Iron Age fort - is a beautiful camping site.
Depending on the season, you may hear cuckoos, nightingales, turtle doves, and woodpeckers, while the riverbanks are often visited by herons, mistle thrushes, snipe, teal, and swans. Occasionally, even the majestic storks from the nearby Knepp Wildland make an appearance.
Logistics.
Quiet, secluded, serene and safe, wild camping at Shermanbury Place will give you everything you are looking for, and more..
After turning off the main road, you'll follow a bumpy farm track before crossing a small concrete bridge into the meadow. The terrain can be uneven, especially in spring due to grazing animals, so a 4x4 is recommended for the smoothest arrival.
