Curate your dream countryside wedding, with exclusive use of our historical estate.
The Party Paddock
With views across an expanse of hay meadows, The Party Paddock offers a blank canvas to let your imagination run riot. It’s perfect for a marquee or tipi wedding, allowing your style to shine in the space.
Two hundred years ago, the paddock was the Glebe of the property; the former orchard and vegetable gardens fed the residents, whilst the pound secured stray livestock.
A magnificent ash tree stands as its’ memorial, providing dappled sunlight over your fire pits or lounge. Old WW2 Nissen huts sit proud to one side, providing essential logistics for your wedding.
We want you to feel the magical connection to the land, steeped in history, surrounded by rolling hills and rural fields - all in total privacy.
The Manor Gardens
The gardens, framed by the manor house have stunning views across the South Downs, include a large pool, walled terrace and pretty garden borders. The gardens provides a more formal marquee plot for those looking for country house charm and an English garden backdrop.
The gardens are undergoing extensive refurbishment. Available for hire from 2027.
Imagine your day…
Entering through our high wrought iron gates, the tree-lined drive sweeps through the Sussex countryside. Passing the beautiful manor house and the neighbouring 12th Century church, you approach the paddock passing wild meadows and ancient trees.
As you arrive, your marquee awaits, glowing in the sunlight and highlighted by festoon lighting. Decorated in your style, the area is bright and welcoming and feels as though you are hosting in your own garden.
Staff line the entrance path with drinks to entice your guests. The fire pits are glowing and the lounge areas are already pulling people to sit, relax and enjoy each other’s company.
As music fills the area, the atmosphere is electric. The excitement and joy is rising from you and your guests.
The call for dinner allows you and your love a moment together as guests take their seats. Then the moment comes, your names, announced by a close friend and followed by huge cheers and whoops. Napkins might be waving, and people are definitely clapping. You have arrived for your first meal together as wedded partners. The afternoon plays on in your own patch of countryside bliss, your wedding day, framed by views, trees, your best people, and love.
And don’t forget…
You, and all of your guests can camp, glamp or sleep wild at Shermanbury Place. Situated across the waterway, accessed by a footbridge, is a field primed for camping.
